The Lexington Missouri Battlefield Foundation is currently working to assist with off schedule projects that help maintain the historic Anderson House. This prominent fixture at the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site is toured by thousands of visitors each year - and plays a pivotal role in the interpretation of how the battle of the hemp bales unfolded.
Used as a US Army hospital...the Anderson House sat outside the US entrenchments and was targeted by both sides during the course of the battle. Today, the house still bears scars from those September days in 1861 when fighting raged around and even inside of it. The Lexington Missouri Battlefield Foundation has committed to assisting with minor repairs that fall outside the usual maintenance schedule - but are extremely important to the preservation of this jewel overlooking the Missouri river.
Your donation toward maintaining this significant Missouri Civil War landmark will ensure it continues to offer the important interpretive value that has intrigued so many since it opened its doors to visitors.
